Theater/Drama residencies provide an in-depth
experience for your students. All residency projects begin with creative
dramatics and conclude with a performance by the students.
There are two great residency projects for High Schools:
Commedia dell'Arte Residency: Your students will bring to life the
masked, improvisational theater that originated in Itlay and spread throughout
Europe. Commedia brought us such characters as Arlecchino (Harlequin),
Columbine, Pantalone, etc.
Since Commedia dell'Arte is improvisational, students can develop their own
scenarios or use a scenario from the Renaissance. A favorite is "The
Woman Who Was Believed Dead" about a young couple whose parents forbid them to
see each other, so they fake the girl's death. Of course, this scenario
pre-dates Shakespeare's "Romeo & Juliet" but ends happily ever after.
Circus Residency: Balance, Juggling Stiltwalking, Jump Rose,
Clown Routines, and more.
Residencies are conducted by My Nose Turns Red's Director, Steve
Roenker, who has more than 25 years experience as an arts educator and is a
Kentucky Arts Council roster artist. He would be delighted to work with your
students on one of the projects above. However, he will also
work with teachers on a customized project.
Residencies Fees:
$1025 per
week, plus travel and lodging expenses when overnight stays are required.
Funding may also available for
organizations in Kentucky. |
